They will just need to be more considerate of the effects this will have on the bike’s lifespan and overall fatigue. You can read more about this in the Cairn Manual.

Can I fit cargo cages and how much can they carry?
There is no hard and fast rule on this one. Yes, you can fit cargo cages on any of the bottle bosses provided. We work on a bottle-cage bolt style mount can take about 1.5kg per bolt used. It is dependant on where on the bike its being mounted and how many mounts you use and the kind of things your are trying to carry. We recommend using as many bolts as you can to support the weight the better. So, if you can fit a 3 bolt anything cage this is recommended. Always follow the cage manufacturers on max load limits.
